Β· February 1961

This document is a Project Blue Book UFO sighting report form (ATIC Form 329) dated February 22, 1961, documenting multiple sightings near Silver Bay and Gilbert, Minnesota. The primary sighting involved a single brilliant, round, tapered cone-shaped object observed for approximately 5 seconds by civilian witnesses. Descriptions varied: size estimates ranged from pinpoint to 4-6 inches at arm's length; the object displayed vivid red, green, and blue coloring, trailed fire and sparks, and traveled at extremely high speed (5-7 times faster than F-100s). One observer reported hearing a sound resembling a sonic boom. The object appeared at unknown elevation near 300 degrees and disappeared below trees. A secondary sighting reported five dome-shaped objects in formation over Lac La Croix, observed by a pilot and deputy sheriff, traveling south to north with greenish-hued tails. The official conclusion attributed the primary sighting to a rare daylight meteor.
