Adventure Magazine, July 1957

· July 1957

This is not a pulp magazine issue but rather a collection of official U.S. Air Force UFO documentation. The materials include Project 10073 Record Cards (the U.S. Air Force's UFO reporting system) and correspondence regarding UFO sightings. Featured are two specific incidents: an August 1959 report from an American tourist in Norway who photographed what appeared to be a doughnut-shaped object hovering above the coastline, which upon investigation was determined to be a reflection of her diamond ring on the camera lens; and a reference to a German sighting of a glowing object. The Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC) conducted official analysis of the Norwegian photograph, ultimately concluding it could result from defective film, processing error, double exposure, or lens reflection, recommending evaluation by Eastman Kodak experts. Correspondence includes letters between witnesses, the Air Force Office of Secretary of Defense, and inquiries from Swedish and German sources about similar phenomena.
