AIR INTELLIGENCE INFORMATION REPORT (Project 10073), June 23, 1957

This Air Force UFO investigation documents a civilian sighting near Carmichael, California. A truck driver, former Navy signalman, reported observing a bright white object at 230 degrees magnetic bearing, initially stationary for ten minutes at approximately one mile distance. Through 8x30 binoculars, the object appeared white with red tinges. The witness estimated it triangular in shape, approximately 50 feet long, producing a high-frequency sound followed by rumbling as it passed overhead. The object climbed rapidly, reaching speeds exceeding jet aircraft performance, at estimated altitude 3,000 feet. His wife corroborated the sighting, describing similar triangular configuration with two white lights and red trailing markers.

Investigators checked weather conditions, aircraft traffic records from Sacramento Radio, position reports from Hamilton Air Force Base, and verified no unusual aircraft operations or rocket firings occurred that night. Military and civilian aircraft were tracked via radar overlay. The report includes source reliability assessments of both witnesses and supporting meteorological data.
