Pulp Magazine Cover, December 1951

· December 1951

This appears to be official U.S. Air Force documentation from Project 10073 (the Blue Book UFO investigation program), not a pulp magazine. The materials consist of a UFO sighting report card and correspondence from December 1951 concerning an unidentified aerial object observed near Hamden, Ohio, on the morning of December 22, 1951. A civilian witness—apparently a weather observer with World War II experience—reported seeing a bright object in the southeastern sky that doubled in size and brilliance over twenty minutes, appeared yellowish rather than blue, and resembled "a huge chandelier with a spotlight on it." The witness subsequently concluded it was a celestial phenomenon involving planetary conjunction on an 806-year cycle. Air Force replies indicate the object was determined to be a celestial body, though specific identification information was unavailable to investigators.
