This document is an Air Intelligence Information Report (IR-372-50) from December 6, 1950, detailing a UFO sighting near Westover Air Force Base, Massachusetts. An observer, an Air National Guard member and aircraft mechanic, reported witnessing an unidentified flying object at 0816 EST for approximately 45 seconds. The object appeared silvery with a half-moon shape, traveled southerly in straight flight with apparent acceleration, and descended at a 45-degree angle before disappearing suddenly. No exhaust, lights, or propulsion was visible. The observer, who appeared sincere but nervous, reported hearing a continuous whistling sound resembling wind over wires and jet propulsion. Weather conditions included clear skies and cirrus clouds at 20,000-30,000 feet. Radar equipment was inoperative at the time. The interrogating officer speculated the sound might have resulted from nearby vehicles and the sighting potentially from sun reflection, though noted the observer's familiarity with conventional and jet aircraft sounds.
