Nick Carter Library became one of America's longest-running series, eventually spawning thousands of issues. These pulp serials—with their lurid illustrations, cliffhanger plots, and serialized storytelling—directly prefigured the comic book format that emerged in the twentieth century, establishing narrative and visual conventions still used today.
