# Marion Marlowe in Omaha; or, Held Up by Accident
This issue features the serial "Marion Marlowe in Omaha; or, Held Up by Accident" by Grace Shirley. The theatrical drama opens with the Temple Theatrical Company's train journey to Nebraska, where a flock of sheep crosses the tracks, delaying their progress. The cast includes Marion Marlowe, the company's beautiful star actress; Bert Jackson, a young comedian; Miss Ellis, a pretty ingenue; Alma Allyn, Marion's stylish friend; Mrs. Burnside and her child actress daughter Ruby; and others. A grizzled Western ranchman befriends the troupe and takes particular interest in Marion. During conversation about ambition and frontier life, he suddenly asks Marion whether she would abandon her theatrical aspirations to settle on a prosperous ranch—a proposal that astonishes her companions and hints at romantic complications ahead. The narrative abruptly ends mid-sentence.
