This issue of The Log Cabin Library (June 16, 1892, No. 170) features "Detective Grimes' Triumph: The Successful Ending of Complicated Case" by Alex Robertson. The serial follows Detective Obed Grimes, who travels with millionaire Redmond O'Connor and his wife Katy to Cairo, Egypt. O'Connor, known as the "Irish Monte Cristo," had previously discovered Inca treasure; now he seeks to reunite with his friend Tom Gratton, who has eloped with Zella, a girl rescued from a Turkish pasha's harem. When a Turkish pasha's spies track them to Cairo, Antonio, the vessel's captain, smuggles the couple aboard his sloop. Grimes orchestrates a nighttime meeting while the pasha's forces attempt an armed assault. Antonio prepares boiling water and armed crew to defend the ship against the attackers approaching across the Nile.
