Mission Parasitologique

This satirical print mocks French tropical medicine specialists at an Anglo-French conference, presenting them as colonial hunters appraising African bodies as specimens. The composition is adapted from the human zoo exhibitions then common in European cities and ridicules the pseudoscientific approaches of early parasitology. The print descends from Gillray and Rowlandson's tradition of political ridicule through caricature and exaggeration.
