Nola Monsieur Vonder Snuijff que complemente le majors il aim la Guelichique!

· 1828

This etching depicts a figure juggling pipes while a military officer observes. The exaggerated facial features and body distortion typify 19th-century satirical printmaking, part of a tradition stretching from Hogarth through Gillray and Rowlandson. Such images, mass-produced as etchings and lithographs, directly preceded the comic strip format. The print tradition—combining visual exaggeration, narrative scenes, and popular distribution—established visual languages still used in sequential art.
