Heliotropium salicioides Cham. — Herbarium Type Specimen

· Collected May 1840, Natural History Museum, London

This is not a cartoon or caricature. The image shows a pressed and mounted botanical specimen — a dried plant with elongated scorpioid flower spikes and lanceolate leaves, taped to archival paper and labeled as an ISO Type Specimen of Heliotropium salicioides Cham., collected in May 1840 from a location noted as between two geographic points (partially legible). A Macbeth color chart and ruled scale bar assist photographic reproduction. The handwritten annotations, barcode label, and museum stamps place this firmly in the tradition of systematic natural history documentation, not graphic satire. No wall label for a caricature exhibition can honestly be written for this object.
