Rhynchosia erythrinoides Schltdl. & Cham.

· Collected c. 1829; mounted specimen examined 1976

This is a herbarium sheet, not a cartoon or caricature, and cannot honestly be described as one. It shows a pressed and dried climbing legume — Rhynchosia erythrinoides — with broad cordate leaves and clusters of small black seeds, mounted on cream archival paper. Labels identify it as an isotype specimen held at the Natural History Museum, London (BM000759992), annotated by John W. Grear in 1976 during his revision of New World Rhynchosia. A color-calibration chart and centimeter scale appear at upper right. No satirical tradition, printmaking technique, or political target is present. Fabricating such a context would misrepresent a primary scientific document.
