Chomelia obtusa Cham. & Schltdl.

· Collected before 1879; described 1836

This is a pressed botanical herbarium specimen, not a cartoon or caricature. It shows dried branches of Chomelia obtusa (Rubiaceae), an isotype collected from British Guiana, mounted on archival paper with handwritten determinavit labels, a color-calibration card, and a ruled scale bar from the Natural History Museum, London. No satirical content, printmaking tradition, or caricature history applies here. Describing it as such would be fabrication. The specimen is a type voucher in the Linnaean taxonomic tradition, relevant to histories of natural-history illustration — a distinct lineage from Hogarth or Gillray — and should be labeled accordingly.
