Rhynchosia erythrinoides Schltdl. & Cham.

· Collected 1911, Prov. Barahona, Dominican Republic

This is a herbarium specimen sheet, not a cartoon or caricature, and no honest wall label for a print-satire exhibition can be written for it. The image shows a pressed and mounted botanical specimen — dried stems, leaves, and inflorescences of Rhynchosia erythrinoides — affixed to archival paper alongside a handwritten Flora Domingensis collection label, a barcode from a natural history museum, and a color-calibration strip. It was collected by Padre Miguel Faeries at roughly 700 metres elevation. It belongs to botanical science history, not to the Hogarth–Gillray–Nast lineage of graphic satire. Fabricating a caricature narrative for this object would be false.
