Cartoons & Caricature
Hypericum pratense Schltdl. & Cham.
· Collected August 1907, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala
This is a pressed herbarium specimen, not a cartoon or caricature, and cannot honestly be described as one. The image shows a dried Hypericum pratense plant — a St. John's Wort species — mounted on archival paper with handwritten collection notes, taxonomic determinations by N. K. B. Robson (1968), and institutional labels from a natural history museum's botany department. It belongs to the tradition of scientific botanical illustration and specimen preservation, not print satire. No wall label for a caricature exhibition can be responsibly fabricated from this material.
