Hypericum anagalloides Cham. & Schltdl.

· Collected July 23, 1887

This is a pressed-plant herbarium specimen, not a cartoon or caricature, and cannot be described as one. The sheet displays dried stems of Hypericum anagalloides (tinker's penny, a small creeping St. John's wort) mounted on archival paper, collected at Horse Lake, Vancouver Island by John Macoun for the Geological and Natural History Survey of Canada. A later annotation by N. K. B. Robson dates to 1956. It belongs to the Natural History Museum, London. No satirical, printmaking, or comic-art tradition is present or implied in this object.
