Gongylocarpus rubricaulis Schltdl. & Cham.
· Collected c. 1828, photographed May 1932
This is a herbarium specimen sheet, not a cartoon or caricature, and cannot honestly be described as one. It shows two pressed plant stems with serrated leaves and small floral remains, mounted on backing paper alongside a color-calibration chart, a ruler, and a handwritten label identifying the material as Gongylocarpus rubricaulis Schltdl. & Cham. — a type specimen held by the Natural History Museum, London. No satirical content, printmaking tradition, or caricature is present. Fabricating a wall label framing this botanical record as political satire would misrepresent a primary scientific document. A curator's obligation is accuracy first.
