Gaylussacia densa Cham. — Herbarium Specimen

This is not a cartoon or caricature. The image is a pressed botanical herbarium specimen — a dried woody shrub with small crenate leaves mounted on archival paper — accompanied by a color-calibration chart, a centimeter scale rule from the Natural History Museum, London, and handwritten collector's notes reading 'Summit of the Organ Mountains, March 1841'. Two determination labels identify it as Gaylussacia densa Cham. (Ericaceae), with a type annotation by Sleumer dated 1966. It has no connection to print satire, caricature, or the comic tradition descending from Hogarth, Gillray, Rowlandson, Daumier, or Nast. No wall label for a caricature exhibition can honestly be written for this object.
