Dalea obovatifolia var. uncifera (Schltdl. & Cham.) Barneby

· Collected December 1828

This is not a cartoon or caricature. It is a pressed botanical herbarium specimen — a dried plant mounted on archival paper — collected in December 1828 near Jalacingo, Veracruz, Mexico, by Schiede and Deppe. The Natural History Museum, London accession label and a color-calibration chart appear alongside a handwritten field note and a type-collection label citing Linnaea 5:580 (1830). As a nomenclatural type, this physical specimen legally anchors the species name. It has no relationship to the print-satire tradition of Hogarth, Gillray, or Daumier, and cannot be honestly described as one.
