Hypericum caespitosum Cham. & Schltdl.

This herbarium sheet preserves pressed specimens of Hypericum caespitosum, a small-flowered St. John's wort native to Chile, mounted on archival paper alongside two handwritten labels. The collector's note, written in a Victorian cursive hand, records the plant growing among short grasses on the flats near the Río Fantástico, Province of Coquimbo, Chile. A second determination slip, dated 1952 and signed by C. Rodríguez Jiménez, corrects the original field identification from H. chilense Gay. N.K.B. Robson approved the name in 1957. The sheet passed through the herbarium of R. Morton Middleton before entering an institutional collection. Three stems with small orange-red flowers remain intact, their tissue desiccated but structurally legible after more than a century.
