Spiranthes romanzoffiana Cham.

· Collected before 1845; mounted herbarium specimen, Herbier Muséum Paris

This is not a cartoon or caricature. It is a pressed-plant herbarium sheet bearing multiple dried specimens of Spiranthes romanzoffiana (Chamisso's lady's-tresses, a native North American orchid), mounted on archival paper with manuscript and printed labels. The collection was donated to the Paris natural history museum by Sir W. Hooker in 1845. No satirical, printmaking, or caricature tradition applies here. A wall label for a comics exhibition cannot honestly be written from this object.
