Pinus teocote Schiede ex Schltdl. & Cham.

This herbarium sheet preserves pressed branch specimens of Pinus teocote, a pine native to the mountain forests of Mexico and Central America. Several fascicles — the bundled needle clusters characteristic of the genus — are bound with paper ties and mounted against the backing sheet alongside a color-calibration strip used in photographic documentation. The collector's label reads Flora of Mexico, dated 1905. Herbarium sheets of this kind belong to the same visual-taxonomic tradition as the illustrated botanical plates of Ehret and the Bauer brothers, whose precise, reproducible imagery of plant structure fed directly into the diagrammatic print culture from which comics' systematic panel grids and labeled figures ultimately descend.
