Dining Room, Hôtel Guimard

Architect Hector Guimard designed this dining room in his own Paris residence as a total work of art. The space showcases Art Nouveau principles: organic forms in the furniture legs and chair backs, the sinuous wall paneling, and the hanging fixture with its draped elements. Guimard unified every component—from radiator covers to built-in cabinetry to tableware—under a consistent aesthetic vocabulary. The room demonstrates how Art Nouveau extended beyond decoration into the complete inhabitation of space, treating domestic interiors as integrated environments where architecture, furniture, and ornament expressed a unified modern vision.
