These ornamental title pages showcase the decorative vocabulary of the French Rococo. Designed by Gilles-Marie Oppenord, they feature elaborate frames populated by putti, scrollwork, and botanical motifs—visual elements that would influence graphic design for centuries. The left plate presents a centered text cartouche surrounded by cherubs and foliage; the right offers an empty shield supported by allegorical figures, ready for inscription. Such engraved designs served as models for artists, printers, and craftsmen, establishing conventions for framing information and organizing space on the page.
