Yves Sente
Yves Sente, born 17 January 1964 in Belgium, is a comic book writer and editor best known for helming three of the most storied series in Franco-Belgian comics: *XIII*, *Blake and Mortimer*, and *Thorgal*. He entered the industry as an editor at Les Éditions Dargaud before transitioning to writing, where he made his mark by taking over long-running franchises. Sente’s approach balances intricate plotting with respect for the established tone of each series, often weaving political intrigue and historical depth into his narratives. His key collaborators include artists André Juillard (on *Blake and Mortimer*) and Grzegorz Rosiński (on *Thorgal*). Among his notable co-creations is the *Thorgal* spin-off *Kriss de Valnor*, which he wrote with Giulio De Vita. Over a career spanning from 2000 to 2026, he has been credited as writer on 94 issues, demonstrating a steady hand in sustaining these beloved worlds. Sente’s later work continues to expand the *Thorgal* universe, and his contributions have been recognized with the Prix Saint-Michel for best script. His legacy lies in his ability to honor classic series while keeping them vital for contemporary readers.
