Øystein Runde
1979–
Øystein Runde was born on December 14, 1979, in Ulsteinvik, Norway, and has built a career as both a comics writer and artist. He is best known for his work on the series *Berserk*, *Bjartmann*, and the detective parody *De fire store - Hvem drepte Ibsen?*, as well as its holiday spin-off *De fire store julehefte*. Runde’s style blends sharp, expressive linework with a knack for dark humor and absurdist storytelling, often collaborating with writers and fellow creators to bring offbeat narratives to life. Beyond comics, he co-created the weekly science and humor podcast *80%* with Kristopher Schau and Frode Hanssen from 2019 to 2020. After that ended, he launched the English-language science podcast *Wunderdog*, where he interviews researchers such as Professor Philip Lubin (involved in the Breakthrough Starshot concept), Professor Robin Hanson (who coined "The Great Filter"), and NASA’s Dr. Cynthia Phillips. Runde has been credited as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer across 15 issues from 2003 to 2022. His work remains a distinctive voice in Norwegian comics, known for its genre-blending and intellectual curiosity.
