Wilbert Plijnaar

Wilbert Plijnaar was born on 12 February 1954 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and became a significant figure in Dutch comics, best known for his long-running work on *Sjors en Sjimmie*. He entered the field in the late 1970s, contributing to titles like *Eppo* and *Sjors en Sjimmie Stripblad*, where his clean, expressive linework and keen sense of color made him a versatile artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and occasional writer. Over a career spanning from 1977 to 2019, he worked on over 40 issues, with his most credited series including *Sjors en Sjimmie*, *Meccano*, and *Claire - Factor 30*. Plijnaar was a key collaborator on these humor and adventure strips, often working alongside other Dutch talents. His steady, reliable style helped define the look of popular children’s comics in the Netherlands for decades. In 1995, he received the Stripschapprijs, the highest Dutch award for comic artists, recognizing his lasting contributions to the medium. He remained active into the 2010s, leaving behind a body of work that anchored several beloved serials.
