Uğurcan Yüce

Uğurcan Yüce (1947 – February 7, 2015) was a Turkish artist who built a notable career in Germany, primarily recognized for his cover work on pulp comics and novels published by Bastei, as well as illustrations for the role-playing game *The Dark Eye*. Born in Turkey in 1947, Yüce began his artistic journey there before relocating to Germany, where he found his niche in commercial genre illustration. His style, characterized by moody, atmospheric compositions, lent itself well to horror and fantasy subjects. Over a career spanning decades, he became a steady presence on Bastei’s horror and mystery series, including *Gespenster Geschichten*, *Grusel-Kabinett*, and *Geister Geschichten*. His covers often featured stark, shadowy figures and eerie landscapes that captured the tone of the stories within. Yüce’s work on *The Dark Eye* helped define the visual identity of the game’s early German editions. He collaborated closely with Bastei editors and fellow artists, though specific co-creations are not widely documented outside his cover credits. Yüce passed away on February 7, 2015. While he did not receive major industry awards, his consistent output over many years made him a familiar name to German comic and fantasy readers, and his contributions remain a part of the pulp tradition in European comics.
