Sammy Harkham
Sammy Harkham was born on May 21, 1980, in Los Angeles, California, and is best known as the editor of the influential alternative comics anthology *Kramers Ergot*. He began his career in comics in the early 2000s, and his own work appears in his ongoing series *Crickets*, originally published by Drawn & Quarterly before becoming self-published. Within its pages, Harkham serialized the extended story *Blood of the Virgin* over 14 years, later collected by Pantheon Books in 2023. His style is distinctive for its meticulous, expressive linework and atmospheric storytelling. In 2024, he co-edited the anthology *Peep* with cartoonist Steven Weissman, which earned an Eisner Award nomination for Best Anthology in 2025. Beyond comics, Harkham co-owns Family Bookstore in Los Angeles and co-founded the Cinefamily film series (now Fairfax Cinema). His father is developer Uri Harkham. Harkham remains active as a cartoonist and editor, with his work appearing in titles such as *Bart Simpson’s Treehouse of Horror* and *Above the Dreamless Dead*.
