Roberto Renzi was an Italian cartoonist born on 10 February 1923, who went on to become one of the more prolific behind-the-scenes figures in Italian popular comics. He passed away on 23 October 2018.

Renzi built his career primarily as a writer, accumulating credits on over a thousand issues across a run that stretched from 1950 well into the 2020s — a remarkable span of more than seven decades of professional activity. He came up through the postwar Italian comics scene, a period when the medium was expanding rapidly and adventure serials aimed at younger readers were in strong demand.

His most prominent work came through titles like Akim and Jukan, jungle-adventure series that fit comfortably within the Tarzan-influenced tradition popular across European comics of the era. He also contributed substantially to Kiwi, Birba, Akim-Color, and Jolanda de Almaviva, suggesting a versatility across tones and formats while remaining rooted in action-oriented genre storytelling. His earliest recorded credit, Albo "Scugnizzo," dates to 1950, marking the beginning of a career defined more by consistency and volume than by a single breakout moment.
