Roberto Baldazzini
Roberto Baldazzini, born August 18, 1958, is an Italian illustrator and comics artist whose work is defined by a sophisticated, often erotic sensibility. After studying commerce, he took art courses and in 1980 founded the magazine *Pinguino*, where he created the character Ronnie Fumoso from material by Daniele Brolli. That same year, he began his professional career illustrating Brolli’s *Alan Hassad* series for the Italian magazine *Orient Express*. Baldazzini’s style ranges from simple, sometimes colored line drawings to highly detailed, realistic pinup paintings, and he has contributed to *Penthouse Comix* and many other publications. His body of work is primarily erotic, though he produced a notable exception with the critically acclaimed graphic novel *L'inverno di Diego* (*Diego's Winter*), a story about partisans in World War II Italy. In 2017, he collaborated with Korero Press on the monograph *Mondo Erotica*, surveying his career. Over a long career active from 1983 to 2018, he has been credited as artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer on 46 issues, with his most frequent titles including *Casa Howhard*, *Beba*, and *Chiara Rosenberg*.
