Paru Itagaki
1993–
Paru Itagaki (born September 9, 1993) is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the acclaimed series *Beastars*. The daughter of veteran manga artist Keisuke Itagaki, she carved her own path in the industry with a distinctive voice. *Beastars*, which she wrote and illustrated, earned her widespread recognition for its nuanced exploration of predator-prey dynamics in a world of anthropomorphic animals. The series won multiple awards and was adapted into a popular anime. Itagaki’s art style combines expressive, often delicate character designs with a keen sense of visual storytelling, and her work frequently delves into themes of identity, instinct, and societal tension. She was active in the English-language comic market from 2019 to 2022, with *Beastars* accounting for the bulk of her credited work. Beyond her signature series, her collaborations remain closely tied to the manga’s production. Itagaki’s legacy is still unfolding, but she has already established herself as a significant voice in modern manga, with *Beastars* standing as a defining work of the late 2010s.
