Nobuyuki Anzai
Nobuyuki Anzai, born August 19, 1972, in Japan, is a manga artist best known for creating the popular series *Flame of Recca* and *MÄR*. He began his career as an assistant to Kazuhiro Fujita before earning an honorable mention in Shogakukan's Shinjin Comic Taisho for his debut one-shot, *Ken 2 Strenger*. Anzai's work is characterized by energetic action sequences and a blend of fantasy and martial arts, often exploring themes of loyalty and friendship. He is credited as artist, inker, letterer, and writer on 14 issues of *MÄR* from 2005 to 2007, which became his most-credited title in English-language publishing. Anzai's signature style combines detailed character designs with dynamic combat choreography, and he collaborated closely with editors and assistants to bring his worlds to life. His co-creations include the ninja-themed *Flame of Recca*, which ran from 1995 to 2002, and the fantasy adventure *MÄR* (2003–2006). Later in his career, Anzai continued to work on manga, though his output slowed. While he has not received major international awards, his series have been commercially successful and adapted into anime. Anzai remains a respected figure in the shonen genre, with his works influencing later fantasy-action manga.
