Michelangelo La Neve

Michelangelo La Neve (14 March 1959 – 18 January 2022) was an Italian comics writer and screenwriter, best known for his long-running work on horror and crime series. Born in Italy, he entered the comics industry in the late 1980s, quickly establishing himself as a versatile storyteller. His most frequent collaborations were with artists on the flagship titles of Sergio Bonelli Editore, particularly *Dylan Dog*, where he wrote numerous episodes that deepened the series' gothic noir atmosphere. He also contributed significantly to *Diabolik*, the classic thriller series, and *Julia*, a crime procedural featuring a criminologist protagonist. La Neve’s writing style was marked by tight plotting, psychological depth, and a flair for unsettling suspense. He was a key writer for the horror anthology *Splatter* and the adventure series *ESP*, as well as the long-running weekly *Intrepido*. Over two decades, from 1989 to 2009, he penned 26 credited issues, leaving a substantial mark on Italian genre comics. His later years saw continued work in screenwriting. La Neve’s legacy is that of a craftsman who elevated serialized horror and crime fiction with consistent quality and narrative intelligence. He received no major awards widely documented, but his body of work remains a touchstone for fans of Italian comics.
