She is an American cartoonist and writer best known for her emotionally resonant, slice-of-life stories that often explore domesticity, family, and the quiet complexities of everyday life. Her most celebrated works include the graphic novel *Artichoke Tales*, the short story collections *The Squirrel Mother* and *Who Will Make the Pancakes: Five Stories*, and the serial *Girlhero*.
