Massimo Rotundo
Massimo Rotundo was born on 11 April 1955 in Italy, where he built a career as a comics artist, inker, colorist, and occasional writer. Active from 1978 into the 2020s, he is best known for his detailed, atmospheric linework and his long association with the Italian adventure and fantasy genres. Rotundo’s most recognized work includes contributions to *Gli Albi di Orient Express*, the supernatural series *Brendon*, and the anthology *Lanciostory*, as well as European editions like *Die Herren der Stille* and *Detektiven uden navn*. His style—marked by expressive faces, strong chiaroscuro, and a cinematic sense of pacing—made him a frequent collaborator with writers such as Claudio Nizzi and Gianfranco Manfredi. Rotundo’s co-creations include the *Brendon* series, which ran for many years and showcased his ability to blend horror and historical adventure. Later in his career, he continued to work on both serialized comics and graphic novels, maintaining a steady output that influenced younger Italian artists. Though he did not receive major international awards, his body of work is respected for its consistency and craftsmanship, and he remains a significant figure in the post-war Italian comic tradition.
