Masami Yuki, born Shūji Satō on December 19, 1957, in Kutchan, Hokkaidō, is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the mecha-police series *Mobile Police Patlabor*. After graduating from Kutchan High School, he began his career in manga and later became a member of the artist collective Headgear. Yuki’s signature work, *Mobile Police Patlabor*, blends police procedural drama with giant-robot action, a concept he developed with collaborators from Headgear. The series earned him the 36th Shogakukan Manga Award for shōnen manga in 1991. His style is noted for its clean, dynamic linework and character-driven storytelling. In the late 1990s, Yuki contributed to the English-language editions of *Patlabor* as artist, colorist, inker, and writer across 14 issues. He continued to work on manga and anime projects, with *Patlabor* remaining his most enduring legacy, influencing later mecha and sci-fi works. Yuki’s later life saw him active in the industry, though he maintained a relatively low public profile.
