Martin Ernstsen

Martin Ernstsen (born 16 August 1982) is a Norwegian comics artist whose work ranges from short-form alternative comics to literary adaptations. He began publishing with Jippi Comics in 2007, releasing seven titles through 2014, and later wrote two children's books for Cappelen Damm: *Hvor er Albert?* (2013) and *Filip flipper ut* (2015). Ernstsen's most acclaimed work is his 2019 graphic novel *Sult*, an adaptation of Knut Hamsun's classic novel *Hunger*, for which he won the Brage Prize in the open class that same year. His credited roles across 27 issues from 2006 to 2019 include artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer, with notable titles such as *Du snakker med feil person*, *I Can't Do This by Myself*, *Owls*, *Duell*, *For Gabriella*, and *Eremitt*. Ernstsen's style is marked by expressive linework and a keen sense of atmosphere, particularly evident in his handling of psychological tension. His work has contributed to the contemporary Norwegian comics scene, bridging indie sensibilities with literary adaptation.
