Mark A. Altman
Mark A. Altman is a writer, producer, and actor best known for his work in genre media and comic books. Born in 1960, he served as the Los Angeles bureau chief for *Cinefantastique* magazine and later as editor in chief of *Sci-Fi Universe* before moving into comics. His comic writing career spanned from 1994 to 2018, primarily for licensed Star Trek titles. Altman is most credited for his work on *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine*, including the miniseries *Hearts and Minds*, *The Maquis*, *Terok Nor*, and *Lightstorm*. He also contributed to *Star Trek Special*. His scripts often expanded the *Deep Space Nine* universe, exploring political and moral complexities within the franchise. Altman collaborated with various artists and writers at Malibu Comics and later IDW Publishing. Beyond comics, he has worked as a producer on television series and films, including *Castle* and *The Librarians*. He has not received major industry awards but remains a respected figure among Star Trek fans for his deep knowledge of the franchise.
