Marcello Toninelli
Marcello Toninelli was born on 25 June 1950 in Italy. He is best known as the principal writer of the long-running adventure series *Zagor* from 1982 to 1993. Toninelli entered the Italian comics industry as a writer, and his work on *Zagor* defined a key era for the character. He also contributed to the horror series *Dylan Dog*, as well as to the graphic novel adaptation *Dante: The Divine Comedy as a Comic – Hell*. His credits span writing, inking, and art across roughly a dozen issues between 1987 and 2007. Toninelli collaborated with several notable Italian artists, though his most sustained partnership was with the *Zagor* creative team. His later career included work on *Dark* and the *Dylan Dog Collezione Book*. Toninelli’s legacy rests on his decade-long stewardship of *Zagor*, during which he shaped the narrative direction of one of Italy’s most beloved comic series.
