Luciano Bernasconi
Luciano Bernasconi was born in Rome in 1939, and he became a steady presence in Italian comics from the early 1960s onward. He began his career working for Carlo Cedroni’s Studio Barbato, as well as for Éditions Lug in France and Edizioni Europer in his native city. Over a career that spanned from 1969 to 2001, Bernasconi contributed as artist, colorist, and inker on 24 issues, with his most-credited titles including *Wampus*, *Waki*, *Kabur*, *Kiwi*, and *Santiago*. His style was grounded in the clean, expressive linework common to the Italian adventure and fantasy comics of his era, and he collaborated regularly with writers and editors who shaped the country’s genre publishing. While he never achieved the household-name status of some of his peers, his work helped sustain the popular fumetti series that entertained generations of readers. Bernasconi is remembered as a reliable craftsman who brought consistency and visual storytelling skill to the many serials he touched. He died in Rome, though the exact date is not widely recorded.
