Leone Cimpellin (6 June 1926 – 27 March 2017) was an Italian comic artist, sometimes working under the pen name Ghilbert. Born in Italy, he entered the comics field in the late 1950s and built a long, versatile career spanning six decades. Cimpellin is best known for his clean, expressive linework on adventure and romance titles, often collaborating with writers and editors on serialized stories. He contributed to the popular German series *Fix und Foxi Super* and was a regular artist on the Italian western *Pecos Bill Picture Library* and *Capitan Miki* (from the *Collana Grandi Storie* line). Later in his career, he worked on the science-fiction series *Nathan Never* and the mystery-adventure *Martin Mystère*, both flagship titles of the modern Italian comics revival. He also drew for *Famous Romance Library*, showcasing his skill with emotional, character-driven narratives. Cimpellin’s art is noted for its clarity, dynamic storytelling, and ability to handle both gritty action and tender moments. He remained active into the 2000s, with his last credited work appearing in 2008.
