Lee Chi Ching
Lee Chi Ching (Chinese: 李志清; born 1963) is a Hong Kong manhua illustrator best known for his historical and wuxia-themed graphic novels. He began drawing comics in 1981 and gained early recognition in 1992, when his watercolors won an award at the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial and were acquired by the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Lee is the first cartoonist from Hong Kong to have his work published in Japan. His specialty lies in adapting classic Chinese novels, including Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Water Margin, as well as the works of wuxia writer Louis Cha. His work Sun Zi's Tactics won the first International Manga Award, sponsored by the Japanese government, in 2007. Lee's art is typically published by CultureCom Comics. In the early 1990s, he contributed as artist, colorist, inker, and letterer on over a dozen issues, most notably for the series Iron Marshal. His detailed watercolor style and focus on historical narratives have made him a distinctive figure in Hong Kong comics.
