Laurent Vicomte was a French comic book author born on 25 March 1956. Over a career that spanned from 1982 until his death on 9 August 2020, he produced a relatively small but highly regarded body of work. Vicomte is best known for the series *Sasmira*, on which he served as artist, colorist, inker, and writer. His elegant, detailed linework and atmospheric storytelling also appeared in *Balade au bout du monde* and *Pandora*. He collaborated with writers such as Pierre Makyo and Jean-Charles Kraehn, contributing to the *Balade au bout du monde* series. Despite his limited output, Vicomte’s craftsmanship earned him multiple awards, including recognition at the Angoulême International Comics Festival. His style, characterized by meticulous draftsmanship and a subtle use of color, left a lasting impression on European comics. Vicomte’s legacy endures through his quietly influential work, which continues to be collected in integral editions like *Sasmira integraal*.
