Larry Todd

Larry Todd was an American illustrator and cartoonist whose work in underground comix, particularly the sci-fi series *Dr. Atomic*, defined his career. Born Larry S. Todd on April 6, 1948, he died on September 28, 2024. He entered the counterculture comics scene in the early 1970s, contributing to titles like *Psychotic Adventures*, *Creepy*, and *High Times Magazine*. His style blended detailed linework with a wry, often satirical take on science fiction themes. Todd’s most recognized creation, *Dr. Atomic*, appeared in several series and showcased his knack for blending cosmic adventure with social commentary. He also worked on *U-Comix Sonderband* and *Factors Unknown*, and contributed to the anthology *Corporate Crime*. His credits span artist, colorist, inker, letterer, and writer across 21 issues from 1972 to 1992. While major awards are not documented, Todd’s influence endures in the underground comix movement, where his imaginative, offbeat narratives left a lasting mark.
