Kenneth Grahame (8 March 1859 – 6 July 1932) is best remembered as the author of the beloved children’s classic *The Wind in the Willows*. Born in Scotland, he spent much of his childhood with his grandmother in England after his mother’s death and his father’s inability to care for the children. Educated at St Edward’s School in Oxford, his hopes for university were dashed, and he instead joined the Bank of England, where he built a successful career. Before his most famous work, Grahame published three other books: *Pagan Papers*, *The Golden Age*, and *Dream Days*. *The Wind in the Willows* (1908) remains his signature achievement, a pastoral tale of Mole, Rat, Badger, and Toad that has been adapted into numerous comic editions, including the French *Le Vent dans les Saules*, the Norwegian *Det suser i sivet*, and the German *Der Wind in den Weiden*. Grahame’s style blends gentle humor with vivid nature writing, and his work has been adapted by many artists over the decades. He died in 1932, leaving a legacy as one of the most enduring voices in children’s literature.
