Keiichi Arawi
b. 1977
Keiichi Arawi, born December 29, 1977, in Japan, is a manga artist best known for his surreal slice-of-life comedy *Nichijou: My Ordinary Life*. He made his professional debut in early 2006, then launched *Nichijou* later that year, blending deadpan humor with sudden, explosive action. After that series concluded, he created *City*, another comedic work, before reviving *Nichijou* for a new serialization in 2021. Arawi’s style is clean and expressive, often emphasizing wide-eyed characters and meticulously detailed, absurdist physical comedy. He is the sole writer and artist for his major works, with no frequent collaborators. His signature side project, *Helvetica Standard Bold*, collects the in-universe fake advertisements and short strips from *Nichijou*. Arawi’s work has earned him a dedicated international following, though he has not received major industry awards. He remains active, continuing *Nichijou*’s second run and maintaining his reputation for quiet, offbeat humor that balances the mundane with the wildly unexpected.
