Kazue Kato
Kazue Kato, born July 20, 1980, is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the supernatural action series *Blue Exorcist*. She began her professional career in 2000 with a one-shot story published in *Akamaru Jump*, a sister magazine to *Weekly Shōnen Jump*. Her first full serialization followed in *Monthly Shōnen Sirius*, and after that series concluded, she launched *Blue Exorcist* in *Jump Square*. The series, which she writes and illustrates, blends Catholic-inspired demonology with a coming-of-age story about twin brothers caught between the human and demon worlds. Her art style is clean and dynamic, with a strong sense of character design and detailed action sequences. Kato has also released a short story collection, *Time Killers: Kazue Kato Short Story Collection*, showcasing her range beyond her flagship work. While *Blue Exorcist* remains her signature achievement, her earlier work laid the groundwork for its success. She continues to be active in the industry, with her most recent credited work appearing in 2024.
