Kate Worley
Kate Worley was an American comic book writer best known for her work on *Omaha the Cat Dancer*, a sexually explicit series featuring anthropomorphic animals and a female stripper protagonist. Born Kathleen Louise Worley on March 16, 1958, in the United States, she also pursued careers as a musician and as a writer and performer for the science fiction comedy radio program *Shockwave Radio Theater*. Her path into comics led her to become the primary writer for *Omaha the Cat Dancer*, a title she helped define with its blend of adult themes and character-driven storytelling. She collaborated closely with artist Reed Waller on the series, co-creating its distinctive narrative and world. Her signature style balanced provocative content with genuine emotional depth, making the series a notable work in independent comics. Beyond *Omaha*, her credits include work on *Roger Rabbit*, *The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest*, and *John Jakes' Mullkon Empire*, as well as collections like *The Collected Omaha* and *The Complete Omaha*. Worley died of lung cancer on June 4, 2004. Her legacy endures as a writer who brought nuanced storytelling to adult-oriented comics, and she remains a significant figure in the medium's exploration of mature themes.
