Josh Neufeld
1967–
Josh Neufeld was born on August 9, 1967, and has built a career as an alternative cartoonist whose work often blurs the line between journalism and comics. He is best known for his graphic medicine and social-justice reporting, particularly his solo work *A.D.: New Orleans After the Deluge*, which documents the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Neufeld also illustrated *The Influencing Machine: Brooke Gladstone on the Media*, a graphic-novel exploration of media history, and collaborated frequently with Harvey Pekar on *American Splendor* stories. His artistic style is clean and expressive, well-suited to documentary storytelling. Over a career spanning from 1989 to 2018, he has contributed to 26 issues across titles like *Keyhole*, *The Vagabonds*, and *Alternative Comics Presents Free Comic Book Day 2005*, often handling art, coloring, inking, lettering, and writing. His work has been recognized for its depth and humanity, earning him a place among the notable practitioners of comics journalism. Neufeld continues to be active in the field, exploring themes of equity, technology, and personal narrative.
